So let me get this straight: Minecraft Bedrock edition is essentially Microsoft being like "lol let's just quickly recode what they did over the years in Java, but in C++ and in a weekend"?

What a fucking flex.

Bedrock was Microsoft's attempt squeezing out a lot more money from Minecraft than was coming from the Java version (mmmm in-built store for purchases, pre-installed on windows 10). And well, we all have our loyalties (I'm a Java player), but I feel like they did a decent job in leaving the game still enjoyable.

I'll probably not switch over to Bedrock because of the simplified redstone and other quirks that work better in Java, but I think that Bedrock is actually a fair deal for casual players who really are not invested enough to exploit the game to the fullest, and those who probably do not have the kind of beefy hardware needed to run Minecraft Java edition.

Also I can imagine my computer blowing up if they tried Ray Tracing in Java in such an already computationally greedy game, but that's just an opinion.

@alcatraz627 Casual players enjoying paying for skins and maps... It's basically Minecraft EA edition.

I mean it's probably better on a technical level, sadly it doesn't come with proper modding.

The java edition loves to be modded but also chokes, vomits up memory and dies when you do mod it.

I simply cannot play minecraft without mods. Bedrock is dead to me. Nothing compares to building nuclear reactors and hand crafted spells. Crafting custom dimensions and mass production of random shit. Building rotating farms and fusion reactors.
