We get them for people at work and they've not been a smooth ride.

No, they're very hard if not impossible to repair. I learned that the hard way.

For play: Yeah it's great!
For work: I don't recommend it.

I've always had problems with the space bar registering (typecover). The screen size is too small as well for working abroad. I also have the base model, so performance is laughable work wise.

If none of that drastically matters to you, I say go for it! I'd personally like to get a surface book!
