Personally i wouldn't put myself through it, you won't have time to cram to any significant and convincing level. But it might be useful for the interview experience.😬

thedev11838y@helloworld I know right, but I'll still go for it. It might work who knows ;-)
I mean, they know I'm a php dev. That where I find it weird. -
@thedev yes, if they know you are php dev, then they must have their reasons... on that note... go for it... and good luck!
-
taylan3848yPostpone it? I have read about a guy who postponed his interview (with one of the four) about a half year because he wanted to prepare.
-
That's surprising. Every technical interview I've done / heard of has been language agnostic. I guess I'm still in the realm of internships though :)
-
Voxera115858yIf they have read any reasonable resume they know you are primary php.
Most interview questions is probably not about how good you are at a single language but on problem solving.
When we hire we dont care if the applicant uses c# or lisp as long as their rationality and explanation of the solution is correct
Learning a new language is easy, learning to solve problems is hard.
We rather hire problem solvers than language teachers ;) -
thedev11838y@Voxera I hope you work at that 4th lol
It's just going to be weird to explain to them that I didn't use ArrayList because php doesn't have it.
I'll brush up my Java and get ready for problem solving.
It'll be fun. -
thedev11838y@edisonn I'll definitely contact you. But I need to finish to brush up on data structures and algo. I'll contact you in few days more than a week. Thanks a lot for the help, that is one of the main reason I love our community.

Do you want to borrow my brain? ;) good luck by the way. Anything is possible if you truly dedicate yourself 100%. You be surprised how much you can do. Java is used for everything, so what in particular is the job for? Websites?, android apps?, desktop apps?
-
thedev11838yThey didn't think I was worthy 😥😥
Lool. 😀😀😀
Didn't work out but I don't really care.
The interview was the most interesting interview I have done. Did all the 4 interviews.
You guys were right the mindset, computer science knowledge and algorithms you know, matter more than the language.
@edisonn I couldn't do the preparation interview lack of time because of my current job, my freelancing and a break up (means my bank account is safe today 😁😁).
I have an interview with one of the big 4 in 2 weeks.
The post is for a java dev, they contacted me even though I'm a PHP dev.
I know the interview questions will be in java... What do I do??? :-(
I worked with java for the last time 2 years ago...
