eptsousa3734yRandom stuff on Linux, discord uses around 80% on mine but on windows around 5%.
Just Linux bring Linux. -
You may also notice it won't shut down properly and keeps spinning after ending calls, the background threads keep running and the UI can't be restarted. My zshrc has a "killzoom" function which just pkills it.
Bear in mind though, windows perf monitot reports cpu usage differently than *nix tools, so that's part of it as well.

They don't put any effort into it because of small userbase. -
How many cores do you have? 10% overall usage on my desktop would be 160% as I have 16 cores/threads

@guitargirl15 probably a software vs hardware decoding issue.
Windows might have better drivers for your video card to allow Zoom to offload some tasks to the GPU. -
hjk10157314y@kwilliams exactly what I was thinking with those numbers. Though I don't think it's a driver issues but application not using it. Chromium based browsers suck at Intel based gpu for example. Firefox no issue.

eptsousa3734y@JFK422 I think precisely the whole problem is electron IMO, but yeah I’ve tried in a few Debian based distros and no luck, maybe my hardware is a problem which wouldn’t be the first time.
Zoom is using <10% CPU on Windows and 125% CPU on Linux. Why :/
