What kind of circles/groups are you in?

Most of who would say such an absurd thing are those who don't know much where each of those languages are useful and their pros and cons, as well as the notion of picking the right tool for the job.

Great meme, although you can perfectly become a developer by just learning Python and never learning C/C++.

Different type of developer, but dev nonetheless.

It's like saying "you aren't a great driver until you're licensed for a semi", or "you aren't a real driver until you've set a good time on a racetrack".

It's not like C/C++ are perfect, amazing general purpose languages in any way either -- the superiority complex of system devs is actually pretty sickening in my opinion.

haven't used c++ in ages, worked recently with python and lisp, now I needed to do stuff in C++ and oh my god the pain T_T such such pain...

I keep on having moments like: oh this aint so bad why did I hate C++ again? and then I encounter something and remember why I hated it. Fun times.
