theuser48024yTBH, I highly respect Notepad++ as a quality crafted product and really wish it was cross platform.
-
@theuser Yeah, Notepadqq under Linux isn't even nearly as good, and its performance sucks. Just like Meld is ridiculous compared to Winmerge.

Lelouch3634y@example-user The organisations I have worked have a painful approval process for using any kind of software that does not come out of the box. Luckily, Notepad++ was allowed in all of them. So, it is commonly used for cases like editing server.xml from WinSCP, general configuration files and such.

@SortOfTested I don't need an IDE. For really hard cases, I use GDB on CLI anyway.
-
@Fast-Nop
The problem is people who desperately need an IDE to support their absence of ability and assert that they do not. -
Never really got the dislike for notepad++, unobtrusive af, easy startup, and it works well under heavy loads.
I would say that it ain't for beginners for the same reason @SortOfTested and @Fast-Nop said, it ain't an IDE, so it shouldn't be used as one.
I am leaving my Vim+1500plugins and personalized vim files tho. -
@AleCx04 We (I) need a list of your plugins and why the hell do you need so many?
-
@ThermalCube nah man its just me playing around. I do have lots of plugins inside of my Vim config. NerdTree for example, lightline, couple of plugins for different languages, stuff like that, nothing too crazy really.

@theuser NP++ will never be cross-platform unless the French Chinese author completely changes his mind (or hands off the project to someone which is unlikely).
-
theuser48024y@Berkmann18 Better go ahead and copy paste source code into WebAssembly and then copy paste into electron. Done.
-
@theuser That would be an interestingly complex approach. Mind you that might be worth being a CS final year project.
Whoever decided to put a "No to all" button in Notepad++, I wish you and your family a healthy and wealthy life. I hope you will get a pay rise and be successful in your career.
- Windows OS user after a long while. Closing a lot of files was a nightmare back then.
