@jirehstudios I mean for me. What do I use once I've learned what there is to know about Ubuntu?

@VacGamer Well, I don't know you nor do I know your plans or purpose for using Ubuntu. Those details would help.

@jirehstudios A customizable OS that is somewhat advanced, but not too advanced. Preferably based on Debian. I want to customize everything. If I don't like something, I want to be able to change it.

@VacGamer I've heard enough about ArchLinux to consider it regarding customizability. Seems like it would fit your plans. There's also Slackware and Gentoo.

@jirehstudios Thx! I'll try some of those out in VirtualBox :D

Just note that Arch isn't a debian based distribution. With Arch it can be confusing to install from scratch. If you don't want to go through that process and you'd like to install Arch and not any of its derivatives (like Antegros and Manjaro) then try the Feliz installer.

if you want to try arch and can't get it installed you can pull my dotfiles repo on my github. I just don't advise just cloning it and running it since my setup isn't exactly newbie frendly but the automatic setup scripts I have should give you a starting point

If you want something based on debian, why not just try debian?

If you want a similar (but not as in depth) experience to arch, you can install the version without any DE or X and build from there.

What are you looking for exactly?

You can usually install the desktop environments or window managers you see onto Ubuntu and mint.
If you don't mind posting a screenshot of something you'd like to achieve I can try and point you in the right direction without going through the Arch install process.
Or if you'd just rather use Arch Google search "Feliz Installer" it's a very easy to use Arch installer. I believe it's downloadable on sourceforge. Or you can try the derivates such as Antegros and Manjaro.
