Just canceled my last week vacation (of three weeks) because the deadline is in that last week. I requested my days off BEFORE the project was even planned.
They better appreciate I did this, otherwise I'll be absent when the next deadline is due.

This sets an awful precedent for you though. Next time they'll expect it and you will never be able to come up with a reason they think is good enough to not do the same again.

Also I'm of the opinion that being beholden to deadlines you had no part in setting is damned stupid, let alone wrecking your home life for one *that* much...

@Zaphod65 I completely agree with your opinion.
That's why I already made clear that I don't work for free and expect something in return for overtime. May it be hours or money.

I offered my last week from my own initiative. I know my boss and I think he is reasonable. I hope he just won't forget

That's tough not sure how I'd deal with that myself, good luck

You stepped up and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Now they should reward you.

I guess this rant will be continued 😜

In my opinion you shouldn't have done that. I do understand that work is important, but so is respect. And it appears to me that they haven't been respectful towards you. And next time they'll be expecting that you'll do again the same thing.

@simonebogni I did not mean to make it look like they are disrespectful to me.

It's just me doing them a favor. Now I wait what they do with it

@BikerMouse yeah that won't happen. You've just made it so that next time something needs doing either on a tight budget, or in very little time, your name will come up as "the guy who did it last time". Also, you're making everyone else around you look bad by comparison, even though all they're doing is the job that should be expected of them.
