People won't be eager to contribute if they don't believe the idea, and generally speaking they only believe in the idea if there is traction. You have to populate your platform with both content and people first, early adopters, then more content creators will be willing contribute. You need marketing strategy, however boring this sounds.

I agree with the comment completely. A plan without marketing strategy is not complete.
However, people won't work for free. They will ask money even if the platform is not selling what they are contributing. That's where the problem arises. -
People do work for free in NGOs for example. Still I think it comes down to marketing, making an idea resonate with peoples emotions. I grant you might be a good dev because you've built a plataform, but we devs tend to be bad at this side of things. Try to find someone who knows marketing and pay him a beer for a small help.

Ah, just remembered, have you ever come across tutorialspoint.com? They have an incredible amount of content, and if you search the website you will find that there are more than 30 paid writers to update the content. It is really not easy to give that stuff for free, I agree.

The situation of using online platform in education is quite different here in India. I know I have to invest some amount of money. That actually is quite difficult for a freelancer like me. :(

@aurghyadip I see, but honestly I don't think it is easy anywhere, even in countries like US or UK. Education is usually a very regulated business, and people exploring it tend do be conservative and dismiss innovation.
Good luck anyway, we need good initiatives to shake the ground a little bit. -
@alandemaria thank you. I know it's out of the box thinking even for the teachers, but trying something new won't hurt the society I guess. :)
The main challenge with building a free education platform is to convince people to actually contribute to it. :(
