My friend: My laptop is not working. Can you please fix it?

Me: Ok. I will take a look at it.

*After 1 hours*

Me: I think your hard disk has failed.

My friend: Can't you fix it? You always spend day and night on your computer. So, I think you can fix it.

Me: Sorry. I can't.

*Next day I went to his home*

His brother to my friend: You said he is a genious. He can fix anything related to computer. He can't do anything. I will take it to a best repair shop in the area.

Me: *walks out of his home*

    If I were you, I would have explained a bit more, maybe give him some instruction of what he should do to have it fixed.

    just ask them for 1000$ to buy a new harddisk

    Do it the old fashioned way - take out the hard disk, drop it on floor, put it back in, with any luck it's working, give a slight nod to the brother and walk out!

    If that fails - just say "definitely the hard disk!"

    You can or you can't but in any case you are not obliged.

    Use spinrite to fix the disk error, copy to a new disk. Charge a 1000 dollar
