IntelliJ Idea. Costs money, but is well worth every penny. If you are on a budget, then take a look at Netbeans. Avoid Eclipse.

I used to be an eclipse guy, because it was free. I've been converted to intellij! Even the community (free) edition is enough to get started

lue4287668yYa I already have it installed and I was really confused by it coming from netbeans and eclipse

fyzrn27598yWhat about Eclipse? Is it still relevant today? Last time I used it was 4 years ago I think, and it's quite good.

lue4287668yI mean considering I am just a junior in college it is more than sufficient for my work. but I want to get accustomed to a more advanced IDE that I will use for the future, by the time I graduate.

java91588y@lue428 You can get IntelliJ Ultimate for free as a student btw: https://www.jetbrains.com/student/

wipo08yLast time I checked, netbeans is still super slow with maven projects. I'd suggest good old eclipse first and then intellij if you want fancy refactoring.

r0bb4238yI downloaded the bare bones eclipse package, and setup all the plugins and dependencies for it myself. Its blazing fast at starts up almost instantly. Perfect for Java imo
Ik this has been asked plenty of times but I am currently trying as many IDE's as I can. Any recommendations for Java?
