SHOUT OUT TO ALL FELLOW DEVELOPERS

It's been 4 days now, I haven't wrote a single line of code. Trying to get in the zone but I don't feel like coding.

Any Suggestions? Please help.

    Money is normally my incentive

@philcr haha.. I get my salary even without writing my code.. But I love coding and I'm not able to do it

@parag0 I'm salaried too, so it makes no difference to me either, I have whole days where I struggle. We aren't allowed headphones or music at work so it's even harder to get motivated.

I normally piss about and try and learn something new to inspire me to code

    Hack a small poc together

Not being poor is also my incentive.

Sometimes i dont feel like coding too. . Give urself an objective e,. G. Programm for 0:30 minutes, and then do what u want. Maybe then ull get the hang of it

    Keep calm
    Everyone needs a break sometime.

@lukegv coding when shit faced is always the best fun the next day

@linuxer4fun will try it for sure :)

@lukegv it's no fun if you just have one glass. I don't particularly drink when working with PLC's because that shit can kill people if you get it wrong. But windows/web stuff getting shit faced makes it all make sense

    In no mood, are we?
Try to tweak your env to be interruption free (I know hard, but try).
Then choose something easy to do. Maybe a 5 min refactoring.
Just do that. No difficulty, just to make you feel better. That should kick start you appetite. Still not into we mood? Another 5 min easy job to boost your confidence. Repeat until you are ready to kick arse!!

Try to find out why you aren't in the mood.

    Bored? Learn something new.
Overwhelmed? Break it down into byte size pieces.
Tired? Take off work / refuel yourself by doing something fun.
Lazy? Set goals / challenge yourself.

    Etc.

    Try reddit.com/r/dailyprogrammer

Pick any random challenge and code it in.

    It's burnout, very likely.

Do something new to load your brain differently. Like some sports or a walk, that usually helps a lot.

For me, code is the last thing to get done.
Forms and everything else go first, and then all i have left is the code and it doesn't seem so massive a chore.

Chill, drink some beer, hangout with friends

@dude111115 UI is a massive pita if you have OCD like me

@philcr takes enough time to make yourself motivated to do the coding

I try switching to the pomodoro technique, and if I still can't get any lines down I try describing what I have to do in steps. If that's still not enough I split my steps into smaller steps. Until it gets to a level of open your editor. It's slow and boring but better than not getting any work done.

And caffeine, lots of caffeine and exercise. If I get my body going my mind will follow.

Maybe just try something new, write a few lines in another language or in one of the new pretty nice Web frameworks :)
Another Point: tweak your environment, try out a New Editor or something like phpstorm or webstorm. It will take some time, but you will see the benefits afterwards :)

My last job was at home. I had days that I would work less than 2 hours/day. Started watching tv series and kept going all day

    @shozukan sounds like today

Today was more like "have x issues to fix, lets see if I can have at least x/2 done today so that my boss don't bug me..." at 4 pm had that done and that was my work for the day
