yarwest27158yAs a dutch student, I have noticed that the dutch market is pretty oversaturated with jobs. people that get out of college almost always have a job straight out of school. I know for a fact that that is completely not true for a country like America, from where I've heard stories of job searches lasting for up to 3 years (like the fuck) and recruiters just being huge dicks that only care about providing people to companies. It doesn't matter if the person they are providing is qualified, or even a dev for that matter. It's just the numbers that matter to them :p

kibbles2408yI've been considering moving from the US. Is it actually that easy to find a dev job? 😂 as far as my story...I was interviewed and hired in 24 hours once..

@kibbles I know for a fact that loads of companies are actively looking for good devs over here.

michaelm1328y@overheat depends on how good you are. But on average 2500 to 3000 a month. Before tax.
This is one the more stranger aspects about Dutch devs. The demand is high. You can get a job within a day but the pay is low. It doesn't match up to the supply and demand idea.
I don't know how recruitment goes outside of the Netherlands, but here they can be very very aggressive due to the scarcity of programmers.
One was even so blunt that he called the office I was working and asked to be connected to me with some bullshit story. Now you have to understand that this was a small company, so small that it was one open space. You can imagine how I felt when he was asking me questions and offering me work while the rest of the people could actually hear me. I got mad at the guy and refused.
What are your weirdest recruiter stories? Beside LinkedIn spam...
