No use in saying "x copied y". What actually matters is who does it right. You can be the first to market but if your implementation sucks then it doesn't mean squat. :-)
Personally, I like the direction that microsoft is going! -
@mzgaljic a patent is nothing to be proud of. Even i can file a patent for something futuristic with enough money. But Microsoft actually created it.
I agree that about MS except the case of Windows 10. Anyway, I really hope MBP 2015 prices come down. Have been eyeing for one. -
It would be nice if the touchbar is an additional feature instead replacing the esc key
-
@HoloDreamer agreed, hence i said coming up with the idea means "nothing". Microsoft went out and created it - and did it "right", in my opinion. The computer is gorgeous and looks really promising!
All i'm saying is let's not pretend microsoft is coming up with ideas that nobody else is. They just had the smarts and good leadership to realize that people actually want the product!
I think apple missed the mark on this one, and if i had to guess, i think some apple customers will become microsoft customers after this cycle. That's coming from a very happy macbook owner btw.... -
@mzgaljic which macbook do you have? Is air good enough for parallels? I'm looking for mac, would be nice if it can run parallels
-
I have an old mid 2012 Macbook Air. It honestly works as well as it did the day i got it, which is amazing. I got it maxed out in 2012 so it's got 8gb ram.
I have not used parallels, but i haveused VM Ware fusion a few times and it was able to do a good enough job. The 8gb ram is pretty low for development but the SSD really works wonders if the OS has to do any paging to disk. I'm very happy with how light and portable it is, but sometimes i wish i had a 15 inch screen instead of a 13. When not using VM Ware I VERY rarely encounter performance problems. Playing games on it is out of the question though lol. The Macbook Pro can at least power an external 4k display, which my air cant.
I'd recommend a 2015 Macbook Pro w/ retina for development, that's what i'd buy today if i needed a computer. You can find them refurbished or used at a great price.
Just my 2 cents :-) -
Pointer32498y@mzgaljic Paging on an SSD? I know SSD's life it's better than depicted, but... why? I leave my laptop with no paging at all
-
@apex I mean when you use up all your ram the OS has to store stuff somewhere...it's what happens on the rare occasion that i use more ram than i have. Normally i use about 6 of my 8gb ram when developing, so not an issue really.
But VMWare eats ram for breakfast ๐ -
Pointer32498y@mzgaljic Oh Yeah, but I prefer to normalize what I really need running. So far I haven't used more than 6 of my 8GB. I used 7.6GB a time, but it was because we had to run this stupid BI suite called Pentaho (Pentawhore)

Mind blown! Microsoft invented the concept of touch bar way before apple. oO

Surprises me how everybody is saying apple invented it.
