There's alternatives to most if not all of these.
If you choose to use them, then that's you're fault.
@C0D4 Google take notes please -
reginsmol745yMicrosoft has honestly turned it around and is doing quite a bit of stuff thats very good for developers and tech in general.
-
@reginsmol hey stop that. Don't use logic.
We just Autistically screech about Minecraft even if they did change like we asked them to.
Repeat after me: M$ bad reeeeee

@Stuxnet it's a corporation, the only right thing to expect is for them to do whatever it takes to stay on top of their market. Right now that behaviour seems benevolent. Keywords being "right now".
Not bashing MS, just being pragmatic concerning company actions in general. -
reginsmol745y@ArcaneEye I mean, it makes sense. MS is pretty deep into the JS world. They made TypeScript, VSCode, etc. npm admitted to having financial issues and tried to monetize but nothing stuck so it makes sense for MS to acquire them.
-
@ArcaneEye there's that good ole "big companies bad reee" aspect of the tech community.
-

@Stuxnet I'm more of a calm and concerned guy than a screecher, but I do believe the obligations registering on the stock market puts corporations under, makes them inevitably incapable of doing the right thing for humans in general, since they serve a specific set of humans with the goal of redistribution of wealth towards those people.
-
@ArcaneEye for every calm and concerned guy there's 3-5 screechers lurking ready to screech and talk about how they jerk off to OSS and Stallman or Linus lol
But fair enough. -
They're doing ok right now. What bothers me is that npm is a central registry. I don't like language ecosystems based on central registries. They are a single point of failure for the entire language.
-
@ArcaneEye This is true of all businesses, not just corporations.
Even your favourite mom and pop store still just want your money at the end of the day, its just a sweeter facade.
