Treat an internship like a job interview. Do the tasks well, quickly, and keep asking for more - they're very likely to offer you a full job at the end of it, and one where you're doing a lot more than menial tasks.

Get access to the ticket backlog and see if there is anything you can do. You can often find some easy shit no one wanted to do.
