Why.

A PHP variable "declared" in the jQuery.
I don't know why Sublime Text (3) does that.

(Sorry for the quality, the screencut was for friends but I thought it could belong here too.)

I don't use jQuery, previous "dev" did.

    Jquery accepts "$variableName" and is commonly used to state the variable is an object and not a string or something else.

    This isn't a php declaration in jquery.... unless you had one crazy ass dev work on it?

    The $ sign doesnt make it a PHP declaration.
    writing_it_like_this won't make it a C declaration either.
