Isn't X the base of the other Environments?

I am leaning towards Gnome due to its minimal design

Beauty of it is if I regret my decision just change it

@Hedgepig did you try tiling WMs before ? Maybe give em a shot .

cinnamon is the prettiest of them all :) but if you're not opting for aesthetics but purely for productivity, i'd go for i3

@skonteam I do like tiles, if that what I think you mean.

Also my laptop is a hybrid, so would like it to handle touch well

@macbury tempting, how do I set that up as a "flavour"?

Try and decide. This is the only way to choose. Also a good way to try is living with one for a couple of weeks or even months. Than switching to another for a while. And than going back to the first. You could feel like you're back at home or like "no, not that shit again":)

Personally I choose Gnome 3. I like it. I've switched to it from xfce, because gnome 2 was too monstrous for me.
And now after they taught chrome extensions plugin to sync extensions using google account it keeps my environment almost the same on all my PCs.

@Hedgepig Is gnome minimal? Doesn't it have two bars, one on top and one on bottom? I'm on xmonad with xmobar, thinking about ditching the bar altogether.

@Gauthier Gnome 3 is way different from the Gnome 2...

@Gauthier yeah but the two bars are fairly minimalistic
