One of my freind's sister came to me yesterday, and asked me if i can help(basically do the entire thing) her by making a website, which she has to make as a project. She is in 10th standard so it has to be a very simple website, just some text and images and stuff... I was like YEAH easy pesy... And then i opened my laptop and started working on that... No plugins, no bootstrap, no framework, no jquery, no nothing... And i was just like wth dude how and i supposed to do anything with this shit. But then i somehow finished that, now on my way to show her... Hope everything goes well🙁🙁

Wait, this is a "I had to be a vanilla web dev" rant, god help us when frameworks die out.

BTW... she liked the site just have to do some minor changes... In the end, if the client is happy everyone is happy :)

Thats how many websites should be - plus that Bootstrap is horrible garbage anyway, and jQuery has become superfluous.

is bulma any good in comparison to bootstrap? haven't used either much as I mostly develop backend stuff or some angular

What's in for you? Will she pay you or something?

If you do it for her, how will she learn

@ShotgunSurgeon Looked at it briefly. I loved how clean and straight forward it looked

@ofelix03 @ShotgunSurgeon Bulma is also crap, as evidenced on their website. Pretty much for the same reason why Bootstrap sucks. And Tailwind.

CSS frameworks in general are a misguided attempt to abuse CSS in order to develop like in the dark ages of HTML 3, totally not getting the point of CSS.

@Fast-Nop Hmm... as I am still really bad at css, I was hoping to get an easier time by using one of both. I already heard a lot of bad things about bootstrap and thought bulma would be better. But considering your response I just need to learn proper css... should have done so years ago anyways... but the effort... 😐

@ShotgunSurgeon Specifically for Bulma, it's not only that they fail at getting the idea of CSS. They already fail at HTML itself, as evidenced e.g. by their botched up HTML for the menu navbar on their homepage, plus skipped heading levels, and 75 errors plus 21 warnings because their HTML doesn't even validate. And classes on html/body tags, WTF? Also, the staggering amount of errors that WAVE flags out. Not that Bootstrap is any better.

That's clueless hobbyist level right there. The only thing you can learn from it is how not to do it. If you use HTML and CSS like they were meant after HTML 3, it's easier than it looks. Not least because you'll only have a fraction of the code amount to deal with.

255k of minified CSS on the Bulma homepage is batshit crazy (and then even more inline styles that will break once CSP is deployed), and all of it will get into the way at some point. Which is why so many real life websites using these crap frameworks are littered with "!important".
