p100sch15005yMacbook is not sited for any computational task. The heat management is extremely poor for something that costs that much. Use buildservers instead. Simple commit the change and let it deploy to somewhere you can run it. It works marvelously with feature branch test enviorment deploy definitions.

@p100sch so you are telling me that an expensive AF computer that claims it's better over all is not a computing device
-
p100sch15005y@willhertz yes I do. I know that is hyperbolic, but it really does not perform as well as I would want for that amount of money. It is made thin and quiet, not for any load more heavy than parsing a web page or decoding a movie.
Some claim to be made for video or graphical workloads, but even then the performance is unbearable when doing the heavy rendering. -
kadrudev1495y@drac94 yeah that's true from 2014 Macs, but I have a 2019 13' MacBook Pro and heats too much with my daily work routine (two rails apps running, resque and postgresql running)
-
arekxv10545yI guess overheating Macs will finally convince devs how useless and overpriced thing that is. Most of them hopefully. :)
-
Same on my 12 core system76. It's not an issue it's just more heat to dissipate...

p100sch15005y@devapsarl Xcode, Yes. Android, most certainly. Angular, get that shit out of here (but yes, there is).
-
@p100sch
Hhaa u hate angular that much ?
I hate react a lot.
Tell me why plz i like when ppl hate what i like, kinda reveal me my blindspot :) -
p100sch15005y@devapsarl nothing really specific about angular, just all those frameworks and libraries. It just so happened that I started with angular JS. Now I do my shit in web assembly. It is much nicer to just use whatever language you like. But if it works for you, keep doing it your way.
-
@p100sch indeed are also shitty AF, are all for the swag and not for the FLOPS. And don't get me started with post-lenovo Thinkpads
-
p100sch15005y@irene I know, I only started with angular JS. But the general feel of these Frameworks did not really change for me. They are day and night in terms of syntax and structure, but I don't like booth of them.

irene33945y@p100sch Angular pairs quite well with wasm. You can put into a service and subscribe to the result.
-
@p100sch only when I'm using anything that needs the dedicated GPU. I usually work with a couple docker images, VS Code, 2 apps I'm developing running on background, Spotify, GitKraken and some tabs on Safari and it's pretty quiet. I have the base spec 2018 MBP 15".

@TheCommoner282 If only there was a WAY to cool a laptop without stupidly noisy/fast fan...
-
Fun fact : if you summon Siri on you MacBook during a build, she turns off the fan before answering.
specifically the macbook
