A weird one..

I spend a few hours every day simply walking in the nature. I'd like to use that time for coding. However it's easier to light fire under the sea than write code on a phone :)

then there are tablets. Not powerful enough for compilation nor does it have powerful IDEs, but it could be quite handy to vnc to a decent computer and do the stuff-stuff :) but tapping a screen ain't something pleasant. A physical kbd would be much nicer

So before I purchase a tablet with sim slot - are there any other, more suitable solutions?

    I ran a Chromebook for ~4 years before switching to a "proper laptop". If you are up for reading docs, patching a bios, modifying some scripts, and learning some new habits, I would definitely recommend one.

    Notepad and pen!
    Or you can go real old school, nature and all and use a rock on some stone!

    Pen and paper is the best. Write pseudo code and make diagrams.

    @enigmamachine That's what I do now. But it doesn't take long to make those :) It takes much longer to implement them. And after work hours and putting my kid to bed I have only a few hours for coding... Extending that time by 2 more hours I'm spending walking would be a big plus!

    You get these cheapo celeron or atom based netbooks, maybe have a look at one of those? I used to have an Atom based thing and that even ran basic visual studio tasks, general development work should be a breeze.

    @enigmamachine I was too. Until I noticed I'm already doing that with slack on my mobile.
