Raich26478yI had a International E-meeting at a set time, previous meeting off site delayed me and I missed the train. I sent txt to lead PM for the meeting that I missed the train due to meeting and asked to reschedule thought it was ok. Suddenly while enroute phone rang and boss was furious I hadn't turned up or notified. I was already angry and wasn't in the mood to roll over so I yelled back. I did notify and had the proof. 5 mins later lead texted that he had his cell on silent and ignored it. I was then told to ensure he received it. I kept quiet while thinking gtfo and job interview tomorrow.
When I came into the office boss called me into a meeting room to blow out and "apologize". It took everything I had not to quit there and then. I'm still mad and looking for a New job. -
@Raich wow. We once had a developer almost quit when a senior manager threaten to fire him for using Twitter during work hours (at that time, any social media sites were blocked and forbidden). "Tom" said the mgr ranted for almost 10 minutes about wasting company resources, wasting this..that..etc. Then "Tom" calmly asked:
Tom: "What time did I post the message?"
Mgr: "12:15PM....oh"
Tom: "Yea, I was in the mall on my lunch break, using my personal phone, and my personal data plan. If you read the message, you would have seen I was shopping for a pair of shoes."
Mgr: "Oh..I'm sorry...I just wanted to make sure you knew the policy..."
Tom: "Stop...just stop. This doesn't happen again. Do we understand each other?"
At the time, "Tom" was training to be a MMA fighter...would have been a sweet story if "it" happened again, but "Tom" said if the mgr said one word, he was going to quit. -
@Raich "Tom" got all "zen" and quit (single guy, mid 20's). His MMA training was less than a year, then realized it was too violent and not good for his soul, inner-peace..whatever (he fought 1 amateur fight and lost). He basically traveled around the country as a hobo for 3 years. Lived out of his car until it broke down, handsome guy so he had no problem with finding "overnight stays" with the ladies, would shower at whatever local gym he was close to, did random consulting/contractor work to make money (free wifi at Starbucks, never had to go to an office to meet face-to-face). Now he's a senior software architect for a fairly large company, sets his own hours, drives a big SUV, has a hot girlfriend..terrible..terrible life. :)
Today I nearly killed my new boss, he picked the really wrong day to accuse me of something I did'nt do and could prove... You wouldn't like me when I'm angry cause I back up my arguments and would willingly quit gladly for a better job.
