donuts238485yWhat's the reason for buying a new one. I have an OP1 upgraded to OP6 last year.
The phone is still fully functional but just wanted a better camera. -
donuts238485y@endor why pay $300 more for a cell chip... That's usually the markup I think between a tablet vs phone...
-
Teknas27515yThe phones market is converging.
I don't think we need to update that often anymore.
All the new stuff is just made up solutions for problems that don't really exists.
In screen finger print reader
Pop out camera
3 camera O.o wft !
Foldable 😭 -
mundo0349795y@RantSomeWhere a camera is not a marketing gag, it is one of the few things that matter.
-
naren1115yI try to change it 3-4 years. I am mobile app developer. But still don't find enough reason to change phone often. In fact, using an old phone keeps me reminding that I should support the lowest OS possible.
-
I only upgraded my Nexus 5 (which is like 5 years old) to a Mi Mix 3 because it's getting almost unusably slow
-
Condor324965yThe only reason why I went from my Nexus 6P (don't buy that shit, seriously, nothing but issues) to my current OnePlus 6T is because it bootlooped for a month (leaving me without a phone) until I finally figured out that it's actually possible to disable the failed big cores. Right now I use both of them for their own things. N6P has a good screen, speakers and flashlight, the OP6T.. well, it's got that fingerprint sensor and performance-wise it's a big improvement. But the screen, speakers and flash (why did they place that shit right in the middle of the backside instead of at the top like sane engineers, no idea)... Not very good, improved in the 7 Pro but there's no way I'm buying that right now. Anyway I don't see myself upgrading in the foreseeable future. Upgrade culture is something I never subscribed to. Some of my machines are over a decade old and still work great. Poor engineering and usage patterns is what kills technology more than anything tbh.
-
Bubbles68265yI tend to upgrade every 2-4 years depending on if there’s a good deal, how well the phone is, or if there’s just something that I want.
-
For me, I don't change a phone until it's unusable (or becomes pretty bad)
Still with my OP3 ✌️ -
The Mobile Phone current of "innovation" has got to be the biggest HUSTLE in history. The companies give everyone a financing plan and people just buy a new $1000 device every year!? Soon as they finish paying-OFF one phone, the customer is told they are eligible for an "UPGRADE" HA!
Would you buy a new Toyota Every Year they make a new one?
People are out of their minds. -
I have my s7 since June 2017. I was gonna buy a s10e because it was getting slow but I said I should try flashing a ROM. Oh god it's like I have a new phone
-
@RantSomeWhere in general I am not a fan of custom roms, but surely I will give that a try.
-
@RantSomeWhere well, my phone's earpiece and network IC were malfunctioning.
The processing part was still as good as new. -
@mundo03 camera isn't a gag, but OP3/OP3T camera ain't bad. In fact, it still gives mid range phones a run for their money.
-
@RantSomeWhere yes, other than for the issues that I got because of dropping it badly, even after 2 years I was extremely satisfied with the phone. Hence I decided not to buy anything other than OnePlus.
Just bought OnePlus 7
Had OnePlus 3T for two years. Am I changing phones to often?
