How will I get a better Dev job in 12 months, by making projects or by practicing competitive programming?

What the heck is "competitive programming"?!

@NitinSahu Oh heck no. Do them for fun if you want, but you won't get a job from them (unless it's as part of a structured test for a job somehow, that is.)

You'll get a better job by gaining more experience, in particular experience in the tech stacks that you want to work in next. There's not really a magic formula beyond that.

@AlmondSauce I have seen many companies keep competitive programming as their selection rounds. So I thought I should ask here to decide my direction as I am in my final year of Engineering.

@NitinSahu depends on the way you want to go. Are you looking for a job at a larger company or a small firm/startup? Do you have a particular field you want to work in? Are you going to go through campus placements?

@RememberMe I want a job at product based company like swiggy, hotstar, etc. I am appearing for placements from college for back-up.

@NitinSahu since you've already identified companies you'd like to work for, why not search online to see what requirements those companies have, how they conduct tests and interviews, and then try to max out your performance there? (Generally even these guys have competitive based tests, though)

If you're going for placements, competitive programming is a must, it'll be there in the initial rounds and in the interviews as well. Your projects will only matter in interviews. Both are important and have their purpose.
