@Elyz not a meme. Just stuck in my head after listening to it for the whole evening yesterday :)
my kid likes it π
just needed to let it out as it's getting annoying -
@Elyz not a surprise you didn't like it.. It's a kids' song π
heh, looks like you're gonna enjoy having one of your own some time [/s]! ππ because they come with a dependency on baby shark these days! -
@Elyz πdeny all you want, eventually you'll notice 8 cats in the house is no longer enough and the feeling that the 9th wouldn't be either will keep bothering :p .
Idk why but most gals of my generation were against kids all the time until they suddenly weren't. That period of a weird craving for a baby hit them all π ma' nature is very curious. -
Elyz78095y@netikras you sound like my mother. No, I will not change my mind, thank you. Having a child would destroy any hope of building the life I want, I wouldn't compromise that for anything in the world. You can't take over the world with a drooling, crying toddler clamped to your ankles. Besides this world has more than enough people. I could keep going with good reasons not to have kids but I think it's just one of those things where you either want it or don't and saying I'll change my mind comes across pretty rude.
-
@Elyz a sensitive topic is it? :) I wasn't attacking you. Just stating my observations :)
not asking to change your mind either.
all this sounds soooo familiar π
anyways, hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
If you want to take over the world - do it now. Should ma nature give you the calling or a car hit you it might slow you down ;)
btw, kids are fun :) at age 1.5 - 2 the fun begins. And at older age they become useful in the house :) 1.5 years of drooling per kid is not that much, considering they are likely to be the ones you'll want to give your world/company/garden/other life achievements to when you are no longer capable to handle them. After all there is a spouse who can help a lot with droolers ;) -
Elyz78095y@netikras yeah kind of a sensitive topic for me because I get that "you'll change your mind" shit all the time. The domestic life with house, car, dog, spouse and 2-3 kids is not appealing to me on any level and I don't really find kids fun. I'll babysit for my friends but that's the extend of it.
I think a lot of it stems from having grown up in a house where my mom ran a daycare from. I've met my fair share of toddlers to know I don't want my own, I think.
I'd rather have the penthouse apartment, the traveling and the yacht π -
@Elyz you know the saying :) if you want to make the God laugh....
Do you mind me asking what age category you're in? I'm curious about the mindset [considering kids] - age relation. -
@Elyz to be frank I have better things to do than change your mind :)
I'm thinking I wish I hadn't wasted that much time when I was your age :) -
In baseball as you walk up to hit the ball they'll play a walkup song.
This dude on my favorite team uses this as his walk-up song and almost everyone in the crowd does the dance.
It seems to work at getting some momentum every time he plays lol -
potata14805y@Elyz Heh, you sound like my wife to be fair :) (she's a few years older than you).
Her statement is that she is not ready for kids and whatever else you can think of.
Reasons are simple: when she was growing up, she didn't have her own free time due to the fact that she had to look after a brother. Day after day. For 8 years. Now... When that topic comes from any of our relatives - she's just denying it and ignoring. We had a talk and she said that she wants to have kids when we buy our own house and are well into careers... This is like 10 years from now. Fuck, I didn't really want to be 50 when my kid is a teenager. But hey, it's life.
Now to be fair... Life with kids is not for everyone and definitely not trying to tell you otherwise - everyone has its own choices. You have yours, and to be fair - I'm happy for you :) Not in a sarcastic way, it's just the fact that you might be upset if you had one and that's not a good way to live :) -
Elyz78095y@potata thanks, I feel like that is the thing nobody gets. That everyone has a choice and not everyone would live a happy life as a mom/dad. My own mother called me selfish for not wanting a kid, but the way I see it, she's the selfish one for wanting me to make myself unhappy just because she wants grandchildren. I wish you and your wife the best, regardless of your choice π
-
potata14805y@Elyz You see... Times change but people don't :) My grandparents (still alive) - want a grandson. It's great. I know why. Its because it was a thing back then. Now times change... You can't get a job that easily, you can't get a house/apartment to even rent if you have a kid (yeah, nobody here wants families with kids in rented apartments). So... Having a kid nowadays is more challenging than back then. I, personally think that the best time to have kids is until you are 23 BUT... it's impossible. College, jobs, living space is unimaginable at this point in time. So... Why would I make myself in a miserable situation just to please others? It was a thing back then... Times changed, prices increased, costs are high, the unemployment rate is high. Why would I want to make such sacrifices...
-
@Elyz Some people want kids, some don't. If you change your mind in future, great. If not, fantastic.
The only people who I'd class as selfish in this regard are those who have kids, and then think that *because* they have kids the whole world should revolve around them. (And I say that as a father.) -
