I have had similar people in my university courses. Now if they just didn't care about the course and only need to complete the assignments to pass, I could just add them to my group and they can ride along for those assignments. That wouldn’t be a problem.
What I can’t stand are the people trying to rip me off. I’ve had people ask me for my solutions, take a glance at them and present them as their own in class. But since they didn’t know what they were talking about, that usually went sideways. And I couldn’t help them because even the most calm instructor would rip them a new one for plagiarism. -
Speaking of plagiarism, that’s also a problem. Usually instructors are ok with people working together even across groups. That is, if you declare that you did work together. If you take someone else’s work and present it as your own, however, people tend to get pissed. But some people still do stupid shit. Like the guy asking me for my solutions to an assignment. And then uploading them unmodified. I even asked him if He wanted to join my team and he said "no". Obviously they found the plagiarism and gave both of us no credit. But a combination of my git log and an autogenerated doc comment I hadn’t removed at least convinced them to give me credits for the assignment.
After that shit I stopped handing out solutions before the due date. I still allow people to go through them afterwards and I offer to work on assignments together, but so far nobody came back to me on that. I’m convinced most people are just looking for a way to get the solutions. -
@korrat hey mate want to give a big thanks for you taking the time to type all that out :-) , i’ve always been good to everyone and gave a helping hand, hoping that one day if i was in trouble they’d be there for me... however it does indeed worry me that they might just copy and paste things without having a proper read... and then just take credit for my own hard work 😓, and then they have the nerves to make me feel bad by saying ‘i got a low score’ etc etc...

@KingMilo the way I mentioned has been working out great for me. Offer to help people with the assignment. Or doing it together. That way you can help and people who just want to copy your solution will look elsewhere.
Also, it will let you and the person you’re helping understand the topics better, making it unlikely that either of you gets bad grades -
@korrat I’ll definitely take all of this into account , I’ll be asking questions before doing anything.. i want to make sure that the person is actually learning rather than just copy and finish :-).

Hey Everyone, first of all I’d like to start with my usual, hope all is well today as always! Today I’d like to post my first official rant.... so anyone that knows me in person or in general knows me as a good helpful young man, right now Milo is happy but has the urge to rant..
So... not naming anyone specifically from uni... one person specifically always on Facebook messaging me for my assessments, now me being me i try to say No, but the issue is i want people to do well, i put my heart into my work and people just want assignments handed to them on a gold platter, it takes me a lot longer to try and get concepts around my head , I usually always stay up late nights to get a better understanding of things. As you may see my work means a lot to me.
I always mention to my friends if they wish to do well, they must sacrifice going out clubbing or other social things for a later time. I spend my majority of the week learning new things related to programming Monday - Saturday, and on Sunday i have my free time , with the usual work out session thrown inbetween :-).
So anyways, thats it for my rant, I’d love to know if anyone has been through a similar instance? If so would love to hear about it!.
