@irene Hahaha very true
It’s ironic given the os is open sourced and free... hardware is on point but still very expensive -
iAmNaN71315yI think if I wanted a Linux netbook, I would get an inexpensive laptop and install the OS myself. I definitely wouldn't pay those prices.

You can get an xps for the same price. Id much rather have a magnesium chassis high end laptop that a plastic whatever because "muh linuks"

I bought a thinkpad 580 for 1,068 USD
Just had a coworker show me the system 76 and wanted to know the general opinion of them -
bahua129055yI have an Oryx Pro 2018 model. It's the fastest desktop computer I have ever used. I had to do a lot of tweaking to get it working the way I want, the best it can, but as I personally love doing that, this is not a problem for me.
No idea what people are talking about, saying the nvidia driver is shit for linux. It works perfectly, and never has given me a problem on any machine. I get brilliant performance. It's proprietary, but so is its driver for Windows. I don't really see that as a reason to call it, "shit."
The Oryx is big and heavy, as it is explicitly marketed as a desktop replacement, but I have heard very good things about the portability and battery life of the more recently released Darter.
As for the price, my opinion is that the baseline price of a laptop is $2000 US. If you pay less than that, you're making a sacrifice of some kind. Plenty of System76 laptops come in at a lower price than that, but I would push the options until I'm over 2k, like I did with this one.
Thoughts about System76 laptops?
