A friend got banned from discord for.. get this, cursing the president of turkey. Soooo boycott?

@Frederick yup you heard me right. He said something along the lines "Erdogan is a moron" and his account got disabled indefinitely.

@incognito pretty much. But my friend, while he is Turkish, he barely visits Turkey. He's a few thousand kilometers away from it

I have many Turkish friends, good and loyal people. It's sad the things that have happen to Turkey in the past, the president uses Islam as a way to acquire more power.

Fun fact: You won't find any places in the world that has many discos, strip bars and people with "little clothes" as Turkey has.

no offense, but until i see the e-mail from discord staff, i'm not gonna believe this. maybe he also said he likes pineapple on pizza just a few minutes later, and that was the reason? seems equally plausible to me.

@git-gud i have little reason to believe a person i've been friends with for over 3 years would lie to me about this. He didn't get an email, he was kicked out of the app and when he tried to enter again the app said that his account was disabled

@fuck2code i'm not necessarily implying that they are lying, but it could have any number of reasons. It seems wrong to me to accuse discord of such an act if all you have is weak evidence at best, not to mention a proof.

All these tech companies need to stop trying to be the moral authority all the time.

I use discord on the daily but I’ve even realized how much better Team Speak is in comparison SOLELY because you can host the server yourself and that in and of itself is a lot better.

Now I know the argument against that, “Not everyone can host a server” or “discord is more convenient” but some random tech giant can’t peep your shit if you’re the one hosting
