Is there a fucking boundary of what is artificial intelligence and what isn't? People literally shove a few conditionals in a function and call it AI...
By that criteria everything is an AI

Yeah, basically any statistical model built upon regression is considered AI these days...

"AI" isn't really a well defined term to be honest, which is why it's fallen out of use these days in favour of things such as "ML" instead, which is much more specific (you can't sensibly claim something is machine learning unless you've actually got some kind of supervised / unsupervised / reinforcement etc. learning algorithm that actually requires training.)

That, of course, still doesn't stop Joe Bloggs writing a few if statements so his "robot" can say "I'm great thanks" when you say "how are you" and claiming it's ML - but in that case it can at least be sensibly refuted.

AI has been having its goalposts moved ever since it started. Business as usual.

Chess is hard. Oh wait, it's actually not. Etc...etc...

I one hand AI can do wonders with chess, facial recognitions etc, ML and deep learning, and in other we have like @AlmondSauce said Joe Bloggs... and both of those go in the same basket of AI...
