@Haxk20 Well, if something is not encrypted it should be perfectly legal to listen to it, right?
-
@Haxk20 well........... :D I'm currently connected to the TETRA network in Prague, I guess I am listening to the city police (the state police uses a different and encrypted network)... not my intention tho, I wanted to listen to the Prague transportation company radios... I guess they share the same network

Welcome to the world of SDR!
Got a restaurant nearby that uses an electronic pager based tag system for reservations? Swing by there and pick up the signals sent to the tags.
Beyond local things like that, most of it depends on the region that you're in - mine certainly used to be able to pick up emergency service pager signals, which was interesting and rather sad in some cases.
Most regions will have frequency tables published showing what frequencies are assigned to what usage, so if you have a look at those assigned to frequencies that your stock antenna can pick up, you might stumble across something interesting. -
@AlmondSauce well... my region is the P, 0 and B of Prague integrated public transport system regions... But tbh mostly Prague 6. I can pick up ADS-B transmissions from way over in Germany and Poland. The frequency range of my antennae(dipole - the kind you find on an FM radio) is roughly 1030Mhz(still can pick up 1050MHz ADS-B without problems)-445MHz and 285MHz-70MHz. As I said, I can pick up ATC, ADS-B, TETRA and quite a few unknown and noisy but interesting digital signals. Like for example, I found a signal that pulses roughly every 1.2 seconds right above the 70cm ham radio spectrum, it is not just a sound, it is 100% a digital signal with some data, changing slightly every time, but I could not find what it was by ddg-ing/googling it...
Edit: Oh... I think I know... could be some kind of navigational equipment as I am quite close to an airport....

Yay, I got my RTL-SDR, receiving ADS-B and WFM radio and ATC is easy, any ideas what I should try next? (please, only suggest what the antennae in the kit can handle, I'm not planning on making any diy antennae soon)
