Do you have ever tried to recover a very valuable shredded stack of paper (4 sheets)? They are shredded into A LOT OF PIECES and not stripes as I hoped for!!

After 5 hours work I have found 15 pieces which fit together! I am so pissed about myself and my incompetence when it comes to data cleaning 😡😠🤬

    @JohnDoesNot what a life hack!

    Never buy an class 3 shredder. You will never find more than two probable fitting pieces.

    @rutee07 Rage is fully restored after you try to recover the documents.

    @stop isn't that kind of the point of a shredder though? It wouldn't be very good at its job if you could just piece everything back together easily.

    @RememberMe there are different levels of shredding 1, 2, and 3
    1 is just a bunch of straight cuts (maximal width of one strip 2mm)
    2 is with additional horicontal cuts(maximal 10mm²)
    3 is the highest with the maximal format of 5mmx1mm

    @stop I get that, my question is, why would you shred paper unless you wanted to destroy what was written on it? And if you are destroying the contents, if they can be pieced back together then the shredding is kinda pointless, yes? Unless of course I'm missing something big here.

    It's like making a program to securely erase a drive and then not using it because you can't recover the drive afterwards.

    @stop it was a class 2 shredder, with a class 3 I would have failed immediately

    @RememberMe you are right, I wanted in fact to destroy another piece of paper with sensitive data on it, so my shredding use case was given. unfortunately I added some other sheets onto the same stack without noticing it.

    no autostart/-stop?

    no, straight forward into the dust bin. and in fact I realized it 5min later when I was searching the papers on my desk 😁

    @2erXre5 many shredders have an autostart/-stop function to make it easier to shred. Without it people tend to store documents and these things or worse happen.
