baewulf19136yBeen like that since I signed up at least, I think.
Usually microtrans bothers me but tbh I don’t begrudge dfox and trogus getting a few extra bucks here and there.
Devrant is a wonderful service and unlike a game that heavily incentivizes microtrans, having to pay 2$ for a lil extra on my avatar instead of waiting for a few weeks or months to stack ++s is hardly unethical -
BashouT5816yI think monetising content that doesn't give any functional advantage is completely fair for a service they provide to us, plus they give a completely reasonable alternative way of getting the cosmetics. Personally I like the method.

It’s always been there, it also doesn’t deduct from your ++ when you select an item.
-
Kaji22626yAt least it’s a simple buy-it-from-the-store and no a random draw as to which item you get.
Frankly, since they’re earned normally through rep gained by supporting the community through positive contributions, I don’t see anything wrong with it if someone chooses to support financially.
Also, if someone wants a white tiger desperately enough to drop $100 for it... -
lxmcf204106yPretty sure it's been there since the beginning?
And you realise it's only 2 people running devRant and they don't force you to buy them?
You could just post stuff worthy of ++? -
I agree that micro transactions are from the depths of hell, when they give someone a competitive advantage. But micro trans for appearance is a really good idea.
A lot of people want to support what they love, but don't want to just "throw money away". This way the support the creators, and they are getting something for it -
Brolls31556yI’m honestly fine with it. It’s been like that since I signed up.
1. It’s aesthetic and doesn’t affect functionality
2. There’s a clear path to gaining the points to unlock it without paying
Those are pretty much the only conditions I have for most micro transactions. -
Kaji22626yThe other thing as well is that it's not like the item is expendable ("Quick! Buy another treasure chest to get 10 more AP so you can play for another 15 minutes!").
