sonrisa14506yThey started forcing HTTPS for .dev domains two years ago in Chrome, even tough it wasn't a real tld, seems like this was the reason behind it.
-
Why does only Google charge this $11,500? Google links other registrars on get.dev without any "early access" fees!
Anyhow, I like this TLD.
Especially that plain http is not allowed in browsers, but TLS is required. -
Redders9576y@jespersh in English you just said it is 11 and a half dollars... Got me interested for a minute there!!!
-
@elver You may choose another registrar. Gandi (https://gandi.net) offer .dev domains, too. And they don't seem to charge $11,500.
-
mindev5446yWhat do you think about using it for my portofolio website? Or should I just go with .com?
-
@irene point. 🤔but com is so widely used that a clients first intict would always be to type com instead of net or orgm or in this case, dev.
-
sonrisa14506y@irene .com stands for commercial (and a portfolio is some kind of commercial), not company, also, nobody enforces that you can only choose for example .org if you are an organization. It's the most widely used and easiest to remember tld.
Google just announced the .dev TLD which is now available for registration.
I guess it's time to change all my personal project host names to something different 🤷♂️
