Audiophiles here?

My Beats In-ear earphones just died, after 3 years of pretty frequent use. The cable is broken and one side is dead and the other side is flickering. Now I am looking for a replacement. And I hope that someone here can suggest me something that fits my needs :s
First question would be wireless or cable. I am not to sure yet, I think I'd prefer cable because I don"t need to charge them and the possibility of loosing them is not as big. However I am open to wireless earphones as well, since they are pretty good to listen to music during workout.
I want my earphones to have deep bass and clear highs.
One of the most important aspects is durability. If its a cable earphone, I would prefer something with strong durable cables, nothing flimsy that breaks again in a short time.
Oh yeah and the price shouldn"t break the bank, I am thinking about something <100 euros.

What would you guys recommend me?

I've got my AKG K518LE for more than 2 years now, and I'm fairly contempt with them.
    Should cost around 50 euro.

I recently got my EOZ Bluetooth in-ear headphones for backing their Kickstarter. Comfortable, and the sound is huge and full. Great connectivity(BT5), and the storage case holds them magnetically in place and charges them. Highly recommended.

What music genre? Some brands are better in displaying rock while others are better for hardcore.

I personally rent my headphones. Yes, I said 'rent'. I pay 5 euro a month and when something breaks, a new part with a free return envelope is sent my way. (I break them often, not in purpose)

They're from GerrardStreet but are you from the Netherlands? They currently only operate there :/

    Sound quality is awesome imo.

@linuxxx ive never heard about it. How often do you break it?

    > Audiophile
    > Beats

    Huh.
Last time I used those they were bloody horrible. Have they improved?
  • 0
@Codex404 Way too often. Not a pattern but at least once every 1-2 months. Just me being 'onhandig' but yeah, what can you do ._____.

Mostly the jack input by the way.

Well... The Bose QC35 would fit your needs *perfectly* .... But then I saw your budget

@Root They got improvements since Apple bought Beats, but I would definitely not use "Beats" and "audiophile" in one sentence.. still far behind Sennheiser/Bose/Similar in the same price range

I have a Kingston HyperX cloud II and they sound lovely the microphone unplugs for when you just need headphones and the have proper thick corded cable and do an excellent job of blocking out background noise

@linuxxx i checked it out. But there is a lack of information on their site.
  • 0
@Codex404 Deathmetal/Deathcore. Occasionally Rock and Rap.

@Root I am not saying I am an audiophile, I was rather asking advice from someone who would call himself an audiophile :D Beats were alright, good Bass, decent highs, and the all in all package was okay. But well - they broke. So I need a replacement.

@Snob Sennheiser is great but last time I used one of their in-ears the cables were so flimsy and thin that the broke within the first week. And I didn't treat them roughly or anything.

@Codex404 what do you want to know?
  • 0
@irene I, way too often, get the wire stuck somewhere and then when I move, the jack input breaks.
  • 1
@irene Actually I'd call myself responsible.
Instead of buying new headphones every time I break them (I don't do this on purpose, again), I only have to return one part instead of throwing the entire headset away. Depending on the state of the returned part, it can either be fixed or recycled.

This is very good for our planet.
  • 0
@irene Well, I wouldn't call being clumsy irresponsible.
I've been trying to fix being clumsy for what, 14 years now? If that's not working then why not try to find a not 100 percent ideal but at least better solution to throwing away stuff everytime ONE part breaks?

@Kyu96 That's why I buy wireless headphones haha

I went with AKG over-ears for a few years now, but since i can't currently geht replacement earpads, i guess AKG is dead to me.

    Beyerdynamic seems cool.

@Snob I have never seen wireless headphones with better quality then a wired variant though. And the jack can be replaced pretty easily

    @linuxxx
It doesnt state the price of the reb*rd. It doesnt show detailed specs comparisons of the three. Just general information is lacking

@Codex404 Then try the QC35ii, I bet you won't notice any slight differences to wired ones..
  • 0
@Snob impossible, compression will always take place with wireless headphones. This will either decrease the quality of audio (especially noticeable with voice audio) or it is delayed.

Finding a wired headphone is pretty difficult already, as I said before sometimes I find one really well for metal, which is horrible for watching series.

@Codex404 I consider myself an audiophile and I can not hear noticable differences. Better test them before making statements

@Root I actually wrote those two first lines exactly like you did but decided not to post 😁

Have a look Skullcandy. They should fir your budget and needs. Otherwise, I am very partial to Senheisser, especially if noise cancelling is required. AKG has good price/quality ratio, but their leather is rather flimsy and will fail on you before anything else gives up.

@gruff I second you, the HyperX Cloud (a rebranded QPad model) are good quality headphones. I wouldn't call them audiophile, but the sound is not flawed either. They are closed back, which is both a positive and a negative. I have enjoyed mine, mostly because of the quality.

@Codex404 As for the price and specs, that's not surprising: they only have one model now. New models' release dates will be announced end of this month.

@Snob ive listened to almost anything they have in stores in the netherlands about half a year ago (took 3 weeks every evening to go to stores and try things out)

The ones you mention are on ears though I disregard those before listening because they are uncomfortable as fuck when wearing it 10 hours a day.

But you are saying that there is no quality loss in these in any audio type? Rock, metal, classical, and podcasts/series/movies? I highly doubt it, but if thats the case than there is the only product that has the best of all worlds.
  • 0
@linuxxx they have the huge one, and there they say to get b*rd until the huge ones are available, when I go to the b*rds they are unavailable and nowhere prices for the reb*rds... Its like they dont want to sell things.

    @Codex404 What do you mean?:
  • 0
No one is concerned about shooting microwaves into the head? That's why I always go with a wire. I had Google glass and other wireless headphones quite a few years ago, and I always got a headache and sharp pains/ burning behind my ears. Since then, I am wired only. As far as sound quality goes, I keep it wired too, outside the ear.

Wanna try some chi-fi? You know....those cheap IEM from china. If you do, check out KZ ZSR, its damn impressive for that price. You can switch the cable and turn it into a Bluetooth one too.....
  • 0
    @linuxxx hmm I see this
  • 0
@Codex404 Lol wut. As for their new models, specs and prices will come out end of this month hopefully :D
  • 0
@Codex404 Lol what head do you have? I wear them for hours without any comfort issues.. Second: I never said that they *don't* have any loss and more important I never said that I experienced *any* genre. Calm your titties man
  • 0
@Snob on ears press my ears and hair uncomfortably against my head. Over ears dont have this issue.

My whole point was that wireless has compression and thus quality loss. If you comment on that saying you dont notice that and that I HAVE to listen to your headphones before making statements, that literally says that you don't agree with my point.
Im stating that that is impossible even speakers of 1000 euros have this issue... Unless compressed in another way which causes for delays and thus makes it uncomfortable videos.

Next time dont tell me what I should do instead while YOU are not making sense at all. It could be a seperate comment and then I might have agreed to you, but you stating to me that what I said is not true and then once you hear back from me telling me I need to calm my tits?

    Thanks :)

@Codex404 Can't you also wirelessly transmit audio in an uncompressed form?
  • 0
@Kyu96 it is possible but interference would be a big problem than, which also causes less good quality.
  • 0
@linuxxx wireless headphones might be another solution for you. No more broken cables.
  • 0
@electrineer They're soon coming with a wireless one as well :)
