My chromecast these days works over the internet regarding controlling it through the phone. Before, only wifi was possible and it disappointed me a lot of times. Now, it works flawless making the product perfect. Major unexpected upgrade.

    Good to hear you're enjoying it. As for me - my sole use-case for it is mirroring so I prefer local communication. I do prefer wired connection as it's more stable, but !all phones / tablets support that one, so yeah...

    @D-4got10-01 it also doesn't make sense to me while a connection through the internet works better than wifi. I asked R ones to find my chromecast and it did sick shit. Ever heard about mdns? It's some dns system for media devices. It works with that appearantly.

    A reason why I don't have optimal network result between devices could be the fact that my router+modem is a more than ten years old Huawei budget phone. Very popular when you live in a house on wheels :p

    Also no clue. I have purchased an Ethernet adapter for my 2nd Gen ChromeCast just to improve the reliability of the connection.
