@sunfishcc OEMs just don't care about the BIOS in notebooks unfortunately, my MSI notebook bought half a year ago has got a really crappy AmiBIOS that looks exactly like that one... And of course it implements ACPI really poorly to the point that booting and running any kind of Linux which of course expects the ACPI implementation to be done correctly is just next to impossible, you may get lucky and boot a live usb but running the OS after you remove the USB is like playing the russian roulette every time. Maybe your OS boots and maybe the BIOS decides to fuck up the whole partition. And of course don't even think about updating anything, your OS will be trashed the next time you try to boot.
