@ananaszjoe well, seems like it can't really afterall 😂

You could just connect using https, that should stop then intercepting.

@agaripian I am going to host a cryptoparty where I will also talk about ISPs and their ways to insert ads.
I would like to add your screenshot to my presentation. Are you ok with that?

@ruhe yup you can just provide me credit for the picture please!

@PrivateGER yes whole point of https and I am glad chrome is now treating http as not secure. What optimum is doing is just wrong!

@agaripian thank you! I will refer to your devrant account

That's the reason why https exists: so that fraudulent parties cannot hijack the traffic.
  • 5
Fuck https, you shouldn’t be with such a moronic ISP to begin with

@620hun I wish i had a choice, no other options avail in my town for highspeed internet

@Bitkris yes in USA. Yeah changed to 1.1.1.1 had gotten a new router and forgot to set it.. I used to use 8.8.8.8 google

    That's gotta be irritating...
Can't you use a different DNS to get around that, or are they being more insidious than that?
  • 6
@TeenageEngineer DNS is solely getting the information you need to request or post resources (like getting the ip address of a domain so you can request the website), this is happening at ISP datacenter level when you're actually requesting the website itself so too badly just changing DNS servers won't help.

You can avoid this bullshit by either going to sites supporting https or using a vpn connection.
  • 1
Yeah, I'd be sending 100 of my web traffic over a VPN at that point.

    Just change the DNS

It thanks you for being a loyal customer, yet you're probably going to cancel pretty soon now

    @garret i'm sorry, but you won't.

    A) the talk will be in german, so that could be a barrier for many of you folks

    B) the talk and the workshops target political activists and neither them nor me want their faces on the internet. Especially since the german state won't get off all too well in the talk

@tipsyninja , @garret all I can offer you two is granting access to my slides but ofc they are in german, too.

@ruhe Can I have the slides too? I'm German and definitely interested.

@agaripian it was already known, as explained earlier in comments
