Am I the only one here who doesn't mind helping my family and friends with their tech issues?

I actually enjoy helping, as long as it's not something like "why did you have to change the WiFi password, I don't know how to change it on my iPad".

I like helping but sometimes you do one thing and they go to you for every little thing. An example I helped a friend that got a fairly new desktop but the person they got it from removed the hard drive and broke the heat sync bracket. I got the piece, thermal paste, a new hard drive and a copy of windows and rebuilt it for use. She now asks me why boom beach works slowly on her iPhone 😒

I found be even more frustrating being asked for help with stupid things,

And then when offering suggestion on why the WiFi extenders were working badly (they were separated by 3 floors and at the limit of each range, so they were dropping packets like a hell) they didn't listen for months 😡

It’s all fun and games until they ask you how to do the same basic thing for the millionth time

No.... I just make sure not to make myself 'available' to too many people... (That's not too hard b/c I didn't put any points in Charisma)

When it comes to my parents, I prefer they ask me for help first because otherwise 6 months down the road I'll be hearing about how they bought a new computer because that's what someone at Best Buy told them to do

(True story: one time my parents called Lenovo support because their new Windows 8 machine had a rainbow pattern on the screen after starting up... Lenovo told them it was probably their motherboard and would have a technician out their to service the computer... The service company was an independent contractor, and basically they kept screwing around with actually getting out there to do their job... Eventually they just drop this in casual conversation with me, it turns out that they were seeing the default rainbow screensaver when the machine started up when they expected to see a login page like they were used to with Windows)
