Starting a PhD at a great robotics institute or getting a job in industry? Any experiences or suggestions?

If you can do a PhD, do it? The only reason not to is money now?

That doesn't seem like a good reason unless you are starting a family or similar.

Study up and have a bigger impact on the world later. After a certain point, money no longer matters and its your contributions to something important that will motivate you.

As with any advice, filter this through your own values.

Both are valuable. It depends on your long term goals. Set short term and long term goals. Also, speak with some pros in the industry. They will provide good incite.

To topic: I am just a master's student right now and will definitely not continue with an PhD, but go straight to industry. I just dislike writing scientific papers. But it is only my personal preference.

A PhD in Robotics sounds like the most fun you can have without a swimming pool full of noodles.

How many years? 6-8?

@JavaRules The thing is, that the possibility to start working in the industry just gets greater. But after some years of working it is hard to go back to university.

@FaGo You could consider a part time online PHD. There are so many options, that there is bound to be a few good ones out there. Plus, they are cheaper and you'll have a job on the side!
