is it just me or do these white background icons piss anyone else off?

They're atrocious.

I wish they'd all look like maps or chrome (no white space whatsoever).

Like Google get it together and fix the fucking playstore, games, camera, calendar, Drive, photos, YouTube, and even the Google app icons ffs

And those folders? Ugh...

Get a launcher and icon pack, that's literally what android offers you.

They are as ugly as the droopiest of balls. Install some icon packs. I personally think a good one is worth paying for. I think there's a good chance that Google is making these eye-stabbingly ugly icons in an effort to drive more sales of icon packs on their play store.

@JoshBent but I like the pixel launcher. I shouldn't have to download an icon pack for official Google apps (Google play, Google play music, etc.) to have a proper icon

Google calls them 'adaptive icons' and it's the new design standard. Most of their icons have been made adaptive. Many of them have a white background, and it's a bit boring and ugly, I agree.

Install a proper launcher (like Trebuchet) and you'll be able to fix the ugliness.

@mjones44 if you use stock, you are fine with all the choices the OEM did.

Thats why I tend to use icon packs ^^ Really recommend 'Lanting Icon Pack '!

Well I've got custom icons for my folders and an icon pack. You should try some out, you might like it.

@mjones44 Trebuchet is very close to stock afaik. Personally I've always perceived it as just adding a bunch of useful options to the stock launcher, rather than a whole new launcher. But then again I haven't tried the Pixel one yet.

Try Nova Launcher and Dives icon pack, they look really good! And many of the Dives icons are completely filled.

I don't know why tf Google isn't able to get full-round icons for their apps

Brand new to Android as of last month and the first thing I had to do was scour for some better icons. There really are a lot of good packs! Definitely glad I bought the one I did

I fail to understand how people live peacefully with bad UI/UX and make no fuss about it.

everyone is saying "icon packs, icon packs, icon packs". my point is I should not have to use one for the PREINSTALLED GOOGLE APPS.

@mjones44 not true, I told you a way without icon packs. But you prefer to stick to the piece of shit that is to blame for the ugly icons, the stock launcher.

Im still not used to that ;( I use an smiled bleach theme so these white stuff are blinding me
