is the linux kernel actually free software and you're allowed to fork, modify and publish it as you want? I thought the license says you cannot just fork it and put your own CoC on it. Or am I mistaken?

@host127001 Of course you can fork Linux - e.g. Google did it for own Android modifications, Sunxsi and the Raspberry Pi group to support their boards.

Why do these people want CoC(k) in original linux?
As Linux is fucking open source, why don't they make their own fork.
They can call it whatever they want and they can surely add code which is not based on meritocracy.
A good suggestion for name would be CoCoS (pronounced as Cock OS)
