no.
There is no syntax highlighting by design. You see, devRant would be flooded with help seeking noobs who got rejected on stack overflow. devRant is not the place for codereview. It's a place to rant, vent and the thing beyond coding in a devs life. I always imagine devRant like something like a thriving bar full with developers from all over the world. With dfox and trogus serving new yorker craft beer on tab and listening to each others jokes or stories about those goddamm rascal clients.
Imagine a kid runs in the bar rolls down a long 80ties needle print out and shouts "look at my beautiful code! it's not working! halp plz!" while all other guests having a good time away from work. I wouldn't want that behavior do you? -
@heyheni I can see your point of view. However, the best rants are those of poor code. That is the only reason I’d like to see it, so that we can post questionable code snippets. If a zero tolerance approach is taken to stack overflow style posts it can be dealt with by moderators.

@delegate212 Just upload it to pastebin or some other service and link it here, then.

@heyheni out of curiosity, what’s stopping them? You can still copy and paste code without formatting, it just looks ugly.

devios157706yYeah this one confuses me too. A site for developers to rant but which we can’t even post code? 🤔
Makes no sense to me. No code formatting to prevent people from posting help questions? I mean that’s some next-level Stack Overflow logic there. -
This seems like a complex issue with a philosophical component. On the one hand, one does not want to get asked in a place like this when there are other places. On the other hand, i personally like insights combined with stories, i am even guilty of having asked a more complex question myself here cause i could just not formulate i proper google search term and i know that the people here are mostly friendly and dont bite.
there is probably the need for an adminstrative decision that might or not might have already happened. this place exists for quite some time and i guess someone else in the past already asked for *markdown* or some basic code, maybe even color (bad memories of me writing only in dark red in some forum around 2000 passing by) -
@BurnoutDV
Definitely, but ultimately its a moderation issue. I've seen Stack Overflow style posts here before. People are going to ask those style of questions with or without code markup support.
As @devios1 said its weird that a site created for developers to rant doesn't support the posting of code.
devRant needs some form of syntax highlighting, so 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞 snippets can be posted as oppose to screenshots.
