@KAS89 I've worked in this kind of open environment before. It's not too bad. Plus majority of the time at least in this company, you don't interact directly with people as everything is communicated via Slack.
Plus I'm usually listening to music whilst working so noise isn't too much of an issue. -
@pionell The entire floor is an open office. They really try to pack in as many people as possible. Also I'm not Japanese. Just a working expat.

2erXre525046yI must admit, that open space would distract me brutally 😲 I need my private space, even if it is only one or two square meters behind an office shelf...

I love most things japanese but hate their antipathy towards individuality, from all the things i see or hear about japanese culture throughout the years they always seemed like a deeply conformist society where the nail that sticks out gets hammered down. But because I've never been to Japan or interacted closely with any japanese citizens I don't want to have any hard opinions about the matter and my thoughts should be taken with a grain of salt because a thing so vast such as a culture of an entire nation can't be judged with a few sentences especially from a foreigner to that very nation. But I'm curious to what do you think about topics such as these OP

@Commodore Had to say really as it's a completely open space. Though if I have to estimate, I would say close to maybe 600 people.

This is my work desktop. Since I'm working in a Japanese office, they're very specific about making sure your workspace is clean and tidy at all times. Also they expect you to have very little to no personal items on your workspace.
The mini whiteboard is my best tool. It makes it easier to work out minor concepts or to explain things to co-workers.
