    @notAnkur 😲 how do you cross text like that? devRant doesn't support Markdown or things like that, does it?
  • 4
    Did you buy it?

    @ewpratten yep!
    @notAnkur doesn't devRant escape CSS? 🤔
    @Alice @xewl Unicode by any chance? I recall that there's glyphs out there that do this 🤔

    L͇e͇t͇'͇s͇ ͇t͇r͇y͇.͇.͇.͇

    @Condor It's apparently called "Combining character" in Unicode. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

    Some more fun with this:

    @Condor You can buy this stuff? I didn't know
  • 2
    @TheOct0 yep, but only in the official devRant client apparently.. Makes sense of course, otherwise the API could be abused pretty badly. But yeah in the official client it's possible. It makes use of Google Play to complete the transaction.. Which my carrier supports, so I can use my call credit (which I never use anyway) to pay for it :3

    @Condor Damn, I don't have Google Play Services :(
  • 2
    @Solstice What's your opinion: Should I set up a Google Play account and install their services on my phone just for devRant?
  • 2
    Maybe I should then...
  • 2
    @TheOct0 I wish I didn't have it either 😢 but I can't pay my devRant++ subscription with anything else... 😞
  • 3
    @Condor Well it's quite the argument to install Play Services, you gotta say...
  • 2
    @TheOct0 most certainly. Perhaps you could daemonize it in a Qemu VM somewhere and periodically recharge with Google Play gift cards though? If it wasn't for my carrier that allows me to use my money twice (mobile data, SMS etc are pretty much free like this) that's probably how I would've done it.
  • 2
    @Condor Could you expand on that?
  • 2
    @TheOct0 Android x86 should be able to run in Qemu, and have Google Play Services running. Qemu supports ARM/aarch64 as well but it'll strain the CPU on your host if that's x86/x86_64. Anyway, that VM then could keep the billing going, while your phone stays free of Google. Perhaps you could even wing it further by just booting it once a month when devRant is about to charge its monthly fee again. Or even just boot it once if you just want to buy some avatar items.
  • 2
    @Condor So that would be Android emulation in order to not have Play Services on my main device?
  • 2
    @TheOct0 pretty much yes. Or ask dfox to support different payment methods ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Oh and thanks for the ++ bomb :3
  • 2
    @Condor *cries in javascript*
  • 2
    @Condor And don't worry, I realized that you had posted 150-ish comments since my last, so I prefered doing it while it wasn't an hour's worth of work x)
  • 2
    @TheOct0 oh right, devRant is a Titanium app if I recall correctly 🤔 not sure how that works to be honest, or if it's even possible to include other payment methods.. but meh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • 2
    @Condor dfox should just add a PayPal donation button to the website

    EDIT: thanks for the bomb too ^^
  • 2
    @TheOct0 you're welcome :3
  • 2
    @AlpineLinnix yeah, definitely! Something like 6 weeks I think it is? All hail to the devRant community for getting me back on track so fast ❤

    @Condor We're not done yet, you still have 7k to go :)
