My father doesn't know what I do.
He thinks that I'm just playing when I create a website or something else.
And that I need of a degree to be a developer

My wife know what I do. I’m playing CS:GO most of the time.

From someone without a degree, nope you don’t need it, the road is steeper to climb as recruiters and companies tend to look for it on your CV, but if you’re up for the challenge, you’ll have a better practical understanding of how the web works VS the having usually outdated theoretical knowledge, just have an open portfolio to prove your knowledge rather then a shiny piece of paper.

I think you would need a degree if you made algorithm heavy stuff because there's also quite some math involved, but frontend is not supposed to do that. You don't learn stuff like usability, accessibility, colour wheels and shit in CS anyway.

If you are US based, going for a degree means also that you might start out with some $50,000 or so in debt, and you'd have to earn that back first. Plus that you earn money now which also adds up.

@Fast-Nop we have a course at uni which is about designing user friendly interfaces. So you can learn that stuff as well. We can sort of choose which direction we want to go after the basics.

Also CS at uni is more mathematics heavy and is not training for being a web dev. You can do whatever you want. You can go into security, robotics, AI or whatnot.

I know several devs who got decent jobs without studying at an uni. So it is defenatly possible. :) you just do you. I'm sure it will work out.
