Condor324966y@OneOrZero if you feel that it's getting shittier, feel free to downvote as "not for me" and move on. You see, comments make the rant rank higher in the algo.

@OneOrZero Because this is devRant.
If I want to hate on a collegue, I make a rant hating on a collegue.
If I want to hate on a service, I make a rant hating on a service.
If I want to hate on a programming language, I make a rant hating on a programming language.
Don't like a rant? Downvote. If you comment it gets even more exposure as @Condor said.
I personally think that a mass surveillance network asking for your location is a good topic to rant about. -
Condor324966y@newNewbie So, would you be comfortable with your grandmother knowing the pr0n you fap to? Your mom knowing all the private conversations you have with friends? Law enforcement being able to track your every move, and while your actions may be legal now, have them stored stored until a time when the laws change and said actions may not be legal anymore? Even normal things like being gay is a crime in some places.

Root825086y@Condor There's also feeding information in about other people who don't consent.
If three people post tidbits about the same friend, Google can and does correlate these to learn about the fourth. And this information does not go away, ever.
As their machine learning and analytics gets better, they can glean more information from what they've already saved.
Also, this doesn't have to be transparent -- and won't be -- so in the event of corruption, fabricated results from this enormous data-hungry machine would look legitimate, and people would trust it because why not?
So not only are you inadvertently compromising the privacy of others, that information can and will be abused.
But is this just anti-google propaganda? Hardly. They already bias search results towards their preferred political agendas, towards technology they develop/prefer, cause and refuse to remedy connection/service issues against groups they dislike, kill ad revenue for the same, ostracize employees who refuse to participate in the groupthink, etc. They're already quite corrupt.
Using their influence for character assassination? Not a stretch in the least. -
Condor324966y@Root It's just like how the crusaders were the "influencers" aka brainwashers of the past few 100 years. The Churches are losing their power, and tech companies take it in. Some things do really never change. Human behaviors, human greed, human selfishness.. I loathe each and every one of them, yet I cannot change these "traits", if you'd like to call them that.
Search engines like DDG seem to be holding strong to their idea of protecting privacy to this day, but I wonder when they'll drown in power just like formerly "Don't be evil" Google did too, just like all the others. It's only a matter of time, and who wouldn't succumb under the idea of global power?
Humans - especially those in power - are disgusting creatures indeed.
Even if you ask me a million times Google, I am not going to accept it. Data-hungry piece of shit -.-
