It should be roughly like this from the beginning:

electricity -> circuits -> transistors ->

different current in transistors = 1 or 0 ->

specifically built circuits ~= instruction sets ->

opcodes -> machine language ->

(punchcards here?) -> assembly ->

C(and similar compiled langs) -> scripting langs
