@kevbost people are posting food jokes on devRant. Are you still sure we don't need it?

While it is obviously named and aimed to be a place for devs to rant, it's turning more into a culture or social platform with development in common. I'm more than certain they won't remove stuff like that, why in the world would they restrict their user base? It seems foolish, they'd rather lose you because you're unhappy than say, 100 people who post random crap. Use the most appropriate down vote option and move on.

It's product 101. If your userbase wants to talk about food, you can't just tell them not to talk about food.

There is one thing that we can all agree is fact:

We are all developers in some way.

A sorority girl or a constitutional lawyer or a career chef are simply not going to sign up to DevRant. So if a dev wants to joke about something non dev, let the dev have fun.

"Posts about food" are probably .001% of rants that have been posted so IMO that's a pretty bad example.

As for jokes and memes - a lot of people really enjoy them. We're not going to disallow them just because you don't.

We offer personalization on the algo feed and we're continuing to work hard on that. But again, this app is for fun. Like has already been said, if you don't agree with a rant or it's not something you enjoy, downvote it (not for me) and move on.

And just to add - obviously our preference is original content based around rants - which we do get a lot of. But it's simply not realistic to expect every single post to fit into that category.

this is the reason I love this community ☺. you get quick feedback, that too without bullying 😊. @dfox I understand the other examples but the food ones hit the trigger for me, otherwise I enjoy reading other rants/memes/jokes even I have posted a lot of memes
