BigBoo23206yI use Western digital. But idk, failure rates usually come with extensive use and I hardly use my external drive. It's not like I'm going to spin up a server on it.
But yeah, I like WD. I don't know why anymore really. Used them for years. -

I alsp think youre right about the "only if you spin up a server on it" part, Boo ;) -
BigBoo23206y@JiggleTits Yeah I feel like. You are probably not going to use it that much. Just go with whatever is cheaper. As long as it's new it should last for a while.

I have been using a WD one for last 2 years. No problem so far. Haven't tried Seagate.

I use one of my 2tb wd in my server with sync to external Nas with 2x 3tb wd red in raid 1 on 10gbit fiber between them.

External hard drive reliability question.
Im looking for a 2-4 TB external harddrive, depending on the price (best bang per buck).
I found a Seagate Backup Plus Portable, 4TB. It seemed reasonable, until i googled failure rates of seagate drives.
Do you guys have any recommendations for me? Anything is appreciated :)
