@BigBoo Needed it for my math class in highschool. But I also knew it'd last me through college and then some. My sister still has hers from like 10 years ago lo
I bought that thing 5 years ago and it's still going strong. -
@BigBoo Year two of probably 5 or 5.5 lol
I've got to take discreet math, and calculus classes. And I'm currently taking statistics (that's why it was on my desk in the first place lol) -
BigBoo23206y@Stuxnet I see, I found statistics and discreet maths to be pretty alright as long as you study. Statistics is helpful if you want to go for machine learning and discreet maths is pretty much applicable throughout the CS field.
But that's just my two cents :p -
@BigBoo Yeaa statistics isn't hard just yet lmao.
I failed calculus, but part of that was me being overwhelmed my first semester of college. (Took algebra and trig in highschool.) Mistakes were made and lessons learned. -
BigBoo23206y@Stuxnet Hahaha, it gets worse (I hope),
I can remember we had to learn about different types of statistical distributions, like Poisson.
I think most people make the same mistake and get overwhelmed. It feels very common atleast.
If you have any chance at doing some crypto math I would recommend doing so. It's quite fun. Except doing feistel cipher by hand haha. It's not hard but tedious. -
@BigBoo Not sure if it's offered or not. But since I'm try to get 2 degrees and a minor (or a degree and 2 minors) it may be hard to fit into my schedule.
I'm down to like 7 or 8 general education courses and an ass load of degree specific courses. -
BigBoo23206y@Stuxnet I see. I will never understand the American education system heh.
But it sounds rough, I took some extra courses from now and then whilst studying. As long as you create good habits collage becomes quite easy. -
@BigBoo It's not too complicated. Minors are basically half degrees. You are familiar with the subject, but not as "qualified" as if it were a degree.
You're able to get as many degrees as you'd like. I'm personally aiming for comp sci and IT with a cyber security minor.
It was initially going to be a computer science degree and IT minor, but I decided to just say fuck it and get both degrees. It'd only require like a year longer than planned. Then they added the cyber security minor starting this fall. So I definitely want to get that. -
BigBoo23206y@Stuxnet I see. That sounds pretty cool. I did a computer science degree which specialized in cyber security, whatever that means hahaha. If security becomes a burning passion and you want to learn more about the complicated things, like writing exploits, I'd say go play CTF and other wargames. Its very hard and you learn a lot.

Well here's my new setup.
My desk wasn't big enough width wise, so instead of buying another one, I just cut some wood to be longer. Gotta improvise 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Just got the monitor today. Next item is a mechanical keyboard.
I'll post one with the lights off so the RGB LEDs are a bit more visible.
